The day finally came – Orange is the New Black’s new season came out on Netflix! A whole year, we had to wait a whole year – And in less than three days it’s all over and now we have to wait another year! It’s cruel, really.
I use the word waiting frequently these days. Waiting on test results, waiting on menstrual cycles, waiting on follicles to mature…It feels like we’ve been waiting forever but we just started this process a couple of months ago. As I sit here and try to find the words to describe what we did today, I struggle. The IUI happened so fast…and now we’re back to the waiting.
This morning I decided I would drop the sperm tank off at the clinic for the wash since we live close by and have a 2 hour gap between drop off and IUI. I buckled up our tank friend and drove him over in my Subaru. Having the mindset – If you can’t be an athlete, be an athletic supporter or I carried a watermelon. However, I neglected to bring an ID and the paperwork (I didn’t even know there was paperwork). I hope this isn’t a sign of things to come – Surely, I wouldn’t forget a pregnant spouse in labor. So the tank and I went back to the car and waited on Lisa to bring the necessary documentation. It’s a good thing we live less than 5 miles from the clinic. We had a good laugh in the parking lot – neither of us realized there was tank paperwork – I’m pretty sure not one soul mentioned a tank chain of custody type protocol! We spent the 2 hour wash time making breakfast and deciding on appropriate attire for an IUI. I felt jeans were too binding but Lisa felt shorts were too casual. Looking back, she’s half naked for the procedure…so turns out, it doesn’t really matter what you wear!
On our way home I asked Lisa how she felt…Her answer, if you can’t tell from the title, my vagina feels congested. I have no idea if this is an accurate or normal feeling. We consulted a few friends on the topic to no avail. We spent the day watching seriously messed up movies on Lifetime (Flowers in the Attic and Petals in the Wind). Lisa had light cramping throughout the day but has now drifted off to dream land.
We’re both completely exhausted from being so excited and nervous all weekend. We have some fun things planned for our TWW and we’ll be sharing those.
